Patna : New Zealand were 192/6 in 74.5 overs in their first innings at stumps against England on day two of the second cricket test at Hagley Oval, Chritchurch, New Zealand, with wicketkeeper W J Watling batting on 77 in 196 balls with 10 fours and a six and Tim Southee unbeaten on 13 in 16 balls.

All rounder Colin de Grandhomme made 72 in 151 balls with 7 fours. New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson made 22 while Ross Taylor made only two. Henry Nicholls, who made century in the first test, was out without scoring while Tom Latham made 5. England fast bowler Stuart Broad took 4/38 while James Anderson took 2/43.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 290/8, England were all out for all out for 307 in 96.5 overs with wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow scoring 101 in 170 balls with 11 fours and a six, his fourth test century. Bairstow was the last England basman to get out. He was involved in a 48 run partnership with left arm spin bowler Mathew Jack Leach, 26, for the 9th wicket. Leach made 16 in 54 balls with two fours. Bairstow was unbeaten on 97 at stumps on day one.

For New Zealand, fast bowler Tim Southee took 6/62 while Trent Boult took 4/87.
