Patna : New Zealand (NZ) were 157/5 in 45 overs in their first innings in 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at stumps on day 2 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, NZ, on February 26, 2022, with batting all-roundre Colin de Grandhomme, 35, unbeaten on 54 in 61 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes and bowling all-rounder Daryl Mitchell, 30,  batting on on 29 in 78 balls with 4 fours. NZ lead the two-match test series 1-0.

Grandhomme and Mitchell have so far  added 66 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 6th wicket. For SA,  fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has taken 3/37 in 12 overs while fellow fast bowler Marco Jansen, 21, has taken 2/48 in 12 overs. NZ trail by 207 runs.

Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 238/3, SA were all out for 364 in 133 overs in their first innings. Mafrco Jansen remained unbeaten on 37 in 51 balls with 6 fours while Rassie van der Dussen scored 35 runs in 124 balls with just 1 four. Temba Bavuma scored 29 runs in 81 balls hitting 5 fours. Spinner Keshav Maharaj scored 36 runs in 50 balls hammering 6 fours. Keshav Maharaj and Jansen added 62 runs for the 9th wicket.

For NZ, fast medium bowler Matt Henry took 3/90 in 35 overs while fellow fast medium bowler Neil Wagner took 4/102 in 31 overs. Fast medium bowler Kyle Jamieson took 2/74 in 27 overs while Tim Southee took 1/75 in 32 overs.
