New Delhi : The upswing in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 26,48,998 at 8 am on August 29, 2020, an increase of 65,050 in last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 18,96,574, a huge gap. The number of active cases in the country was 7,52,424 on August 29, 2020.

A total of 60,177 patients had been declared cured on August 28, 2020, while 56,013 patients had been declared cured on August 27, 2020. India has reported 34,63,972 COVID-19 cases till date of which 26,48,998 (76.47%) patients have been declared cured/discharged.

Altogether 5,43,170 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,49,682 in Tamilnadu, 3,03,711 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,27,018 in Karnataka, 1,51,473 in Delhi, 1,57,879 in UP, and 1,24,332 in West Bengal, till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll shot up to 62,550 on August 29, 2020, with 1,021 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 331 from Maharashtra, 136  from Karnataka, 102 from Tamilnadu, 81 from Andhra Pradesh, 77 from UP, 56 from West Bengal, 51 from Punjab, 14 from Gujarat, 17 from MP, and 20 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.81% in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on August 29, 2020, is : Maharashtra (23,775), Tamilnadu (7,050), Delhi (4,389), Karnataka (5,368), Gujarat (2,976), Andhra Pradesh (3,714), Uttar Pradesh (3,294), West Bengal (3,073), Madhya Pradesh (1,323), Rajasthan (1,017),  Punjab (1,307), Telengana (808), J&K (678), Haryana (661), Bihar (558), Odisha (456), Jharkhand (381), Assam (286), Uttarakhand (239), Kerala (274),  Chhattisgarh (251), Puducherry (199), Goa (175), Tripura (94), Chandigarh (45),  Andaman & Nicobar (42), Himachal Pradesh (33), Ladakh (28), Manipur (27), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (10), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 674 in the state on August 28, 2020.
