New Delhi : The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients cured/discharged has been increasing rapidly in India for the last few days reaching 60,490 at 8 am on May 26, 2020, an increase of 2,770 during last 24 hours. The recovery rate is 41.57%. The COVID-19 death toll has jumped to 4,167 in India, an increase of 146 during last 24 hours.
Altogether 15,786 Coronavirus patients have been cured/discharged in Maharashtra followed by 8,731 in Tamilnadu, 6,771 in Delhi, 6,636 in Gujarat, 3,951 in Rajasthan, 3,581 in UP, 3,571 in Madhya Pradesh (MP), 1,896 in Andhra Pradesh, 1,414 in West Bengal, 749 in Bihar, and 148 in Jharkhand. The number of active cases is 80,72 in the country.
The Coronavirus death toll break-up is : Maharashtra (1,695), Gujarat (888), Madhya Pradesh (300), Delhi (276), West Bengal (278), Rajasthan (167), Uttar Pradesh (165), Tamilnadu (118), Andhra Pradesh (56), Telengana (56), Karnataka (44), Punjab (40), J&K (23), Haryana (16), Bihar (13), Odisha (7), Kerala (5), Himachal Pradesh (5), Assam (4), Jharkhand (4), Chandigarh (3), Uttarakhand (3), and Meghalaya (1).
Maharashtra has recorded 60 new deaths during last 24 hours while Gujarat recorded 30 new deaths. MP reported 10 new deaths while Tamilnadu reported 7 new deaths. Delhi recorded 15 new deaths during last 24 hours while West Bengal reported six new deaths.
Meanwhile, Union Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan visited the Dedicated COVID-19 Health Centre at Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan, Najafgarh, New Delhi, on May 25, 2020. He said, “Ayurveda is a traditional medicinal knowledge source from India and there is huge potential in it. Its inherent strength of holistic healing and well being is being put to good use in treatment of the COVID-19 patients at this DCHC. This knowledge and experience will surely prove beneficial to people all over the world, especially in combating the battle against COVID-19.”
Dr Vardhan said, “We have today 422 government laboratories and 177 private laboratory chains. The testing capacity has also been ramped up, and as on date, around 1,50,000 tests can be conducted every day. on May 24, 2020, itself, we conducted 1,10,397 tests. Till May 24, we have conducted 29,44,874 tests.”
