New Delhi : The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients cured/discharged jumped to 71,105 in India at 8 am on May 29, 2020, an increase of 3,414 during last 24 hours, a significant increase in recovery rate. Coronavirus death toll, on the other hand, jumped to 4,706, an increase of 175 during last 24 hours. Maharashtra alone accounts for 1,982 deaths followed by Gujarat with 960 deaths. The number of active cases in the country is 89,987.
In Maharashtra, 18,616 patients have been cured/discharged followed by Tamilnadu with 10,548 patients cured/discharged. In Gujarat, 8,003 patients have been cured followed by Delhi with 7,495 patients cured. In other States/UTs the break-up of Coronavirus patients cured/discharged is : Rajasthan (4,817), MP (4,050), UP (4,215), Andhra Pradesh (2,125), Punjab (1,946), West Bengal (1,668), Telengana (1,345), Odisha (887), Haryana (881), J&K (859), Karnataka (834), Kerala (555), Bihar (1,211), Jharkhand (212), Chandigarh (183), and Tripura (167).
Coronavirus death toll break-up is : Maharashtra (1,982), Gujarat (960), Madhya Pradesh (321), Delhi (316), West Bengal (295), UP (197), Rajasthan (180), Tamilnadu (145), Telengana (67), Andhra Pradesh (59), Karnataka (47), Punjab (40), J&K (27), Haryana (19), Bihar (15), Odisha (7), Kerala (7), Himachal Pradesh (5), Assam (4), Jharkhand (4), Chandigarh (4), Uttarakhand (4), and Meghalaya (1).
Meanwhile, Union Food & Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswanhas on May 28, 2020, lauded the role of FCI during the lockdown and said foodgrains movement has been at an all-time high. He said FCI workforce has emerged as Food Warriors at the time of global pandemic crisis and they turned this challenge into an opportunity. FCI has undertaken record loading, unloading and transportation of foodgrains during the lockdown period, he said, according to a PIB release.
On the other hand, procurement also continued without disruptions and the wheat procurement by government agencies this year surpassed the last year’s figures.The Minister also took stock of the distribution of foodgrains in the states and UTs during a review meeting.
Haryana: Haryana Government has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to ensure that international travellers arriving in the country remain in institutional quarantine for the first seven days after which they will be eligible for home quarantine for the next seven days. If there is no adequate home quarantine facility, the Deputy Commissioner concerned in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of his or her district may retain such a passenger for a further period of seven days at the designated institutional quarantine facility.
