Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Continuing the series of orientation sessions for its students of senior secondary, DPS Bokaro hosted an orientation programme by noted scientist Dr Arvind C Ranade, who counselled the students of Class 11, motivating them to pursue the career of their choice.  Dr Ranade is an eminent scientist working for Astronomy & Space Science Communication in Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. He also holds a Guinness Book of World Record for conducting Chemistry Practical for more than 2,000 students at a time

The session started with the welcoming of the guest in a formal way which was followed by his two hours interaction with the students. His concern was the existing race among the students for seeking only engineering and medical seats when there lies an ocean of opportunities in the field of science and research. He said one should always look forward to be his or her own self rather than aping the crowd blindly. His second suggestion was, “Prove yourself so that you need no certification.” Showing concern over the brain drain, Dr Arvind said that our country needs our people because we know our problems better than others.

Ranade said curiosity and punctuality play the most important role and a student with these traits could never be stopped from getting desired success.  Ranade also interaction session with the children where he answered their queries.

S Gangwar, Additional Principal DPS Bokaro, said that this kind of programme is an eye-opener to the budding talents as it helps them learn not only about various career options but also enhance their vision. Vice Principal Pravin Kumar Sharma, Dr Manisha Tiwari, and Headmaster Anjani Bhusan were also present.
