Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on July 28, 2017, won the floor test in Bihar legislative assembly. In a 243 member House, 131 legislators cast their votes in favour of the trust motion while 108 legislators voted against it.

Replying to the debate on the trust vote sought by him, Nitish said that he can’t allow people to indulge in corruption under the garb of secularism. Nitish said that he was firm on his stand of `zero tolerance against corruption’.

Initiating the debate, former Deputy CM and RJD MLA from Raghopur constituency in Vaishali district in North Bihar Tejaswi Yadav said that Nitish Kumar had entered into an opportunistic alliance with the BJP under a conspiracy. He wondered why Nitish Kumar did nor sack him after CBI made him an accused in land for hotel deal. Tejaswi claimed that Nitish did not have courage to sack him. Former Bihar BJP president and senior BJP legislator Nand Kishore Yadav said that RJD chief Lalu Prasad only cared for his family.

Nitish had resigned as the head of Grand Alliance government comprising the JD(U), RJD and Congress on July 26 evening following RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s refusal to ask his son and deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav to resign in the wake of CBI making him an accused in the land for hotel scam on July 5 this year. The NDA having 58 members in Bihar assembly extended him support to form the government after which Nitish was sworn in as the chief minister for the sixth time on July 27 while BJPLP leader Sushil Kumar Modi was sworn in as the deputy chief minister.
