Patna : The BJP on July 26, 2017, handed over to Governor K N Tripathi a letter extending support to JD(U) President Nitish Kumar for forming the next government in Bihar. Nitish will take oath as Bihar CM at 5 pm on July 27. The Monsoon session of Bihar legislature is beginning on July 28.
Nitish Kumar on July 26 afternoon resigned as CM of Grand Alliance government on moral ground after RJD chief Lalu Prasad refused to ask his son and deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav to resign in the wake of CBI making him an accused in land for hotel scam on July 5.
BJPLP leader and former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, state BJP chief Nityanand Rai, MP, went to Raj Bhavan in the evening and handed over party’s letter of support to Nitish Kumar to the governor. The BJP and JD(U) legislators met at the official residence of the chief minister, 1, Anne Marg, on July 26 night and discussed their next move. Nitish had thrown a dinner for them at 1, Anne Marg. The leaders of JD(U) and that of NDA constituents will meet the governor in the night. The JD(U) and NDA have a joint strength of 129 in Bihar assembly. Nitish needs only 122 MLAs to form the nexr hovernment.
