Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on September 18, 2017, strongly disapproved of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s remarks while speaking at the University of California, Berkeley, US, on September 12, 2017, that dynasties are a fact of life in India, saying he is personally against such politics which was started by the Congress Party.

Talking to mediapersons after his weekly ‘Lok Samvad’, Nitish said that Rahul Gandhi’s comment in the US last week that dynasties are commonplace in India is not acceptable to the country. Nitish said that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that ‘parivarwad’ (dynastic politics) is acceptable in Indian politics is not true. To say that a person born into a political family has merit to rule is wrong, Nitish asserted.

He said if an analysis is made, it would be found that performance of non-dynasts in high positions is far better compared to the dynasts. Congress has started the dynastic politics in India which has now spread to other parties, the CM said adding personally, he was against dynastic politics. Nitish said neither his son nor anybody else from his family is in politics.

Replying to aquery on simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state legislatures, which PM Narendra Modi has often pitched for, Nitish said he favours `one nation, one election’.

When asked about the attachment of a property belonging to RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s son and former deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav in New Delhi by the Income Tax department, the CM  said those in public life should serve people and not acquire benami assets.
