Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, who on October 2, 2017, launched a statewide campaign against dowry and child marriage, on October 9 said that those inviting him to attend marriage of their wards or relatives would have to categorically say that no dowry was asked for or given.

Speaking to mediapersons after his weekly `Jan Samvad’ ( public interaction), Nitish said although no affidavit will be asked for but those inviting him for marriage need to categorically maintain that no dowry demand was made by them or given by them. Replying to question on his own marriage in 1993, the Bihar CM said that no dowry was taken and the guest were given a speech by him and other socialist leaders against dowry.

Nitish also strongly supported GST and Demonetisation saying they were in the interest of the country. The CM said he does not agree with the views of former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha on the state of economy in the country. PM Narendra Modi’s both the actions were right and would lead to better results. There is absolutely no need to raise hullabaloo over the GST and Demonetisation, he added.

Nitish said that the demetisation would check black money. He expressed hope that the centre would continue to take action against black money. On the GST, Nitish suggested the central government should look into the problems facing few sectors. Nitish said that the people should appreciate the fact that development works are undertaken from the tax revenue only.
