Bagaha : Bihar CM and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar while addressing an impressive gathering at Harnatand, called the capital of Tharuhat, on April 30, 2019, to seek votes for JD(U) nominee from Valmikinagar parliamentary constituency (PC) in West Champaran district Baidyanath Mahto, a former Minister, said that he had come his remuneration for the works he  had done for the development of the region. He asked the gathering to vote for the JD(U) nominee Mahto to ensure a massive victory for the NDA in the General Elections 2019 for the continuance of strong government at the centre.

Referring to the works done by his government for the welfare of Tharus, Nitish said that his government had launched schemes worth Rs 125 crore through Tharuhat Integrated Development Agency in 2oo9 of which 242 schemes  had been completed and Jugal Sah Balika  Vidyalay, Harnatand.  had been granted Government status.

Nitish said that his government was striving to bring Tharuhat on the map of developed areas. He also referred to his role in getting the Tharus included in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) in 2003 when he was railway minister at the centre. He said that the schemes being implemented under “Saat Nishchay” ( Seven Resolution) will benefit every family in the area.

Nitish said that his government had eliminated different gangs active in Champaran range since in Lalu-Rabari regime and  established rule of law. He, however, regretted  “Naurangia Police  firing” in which half a dozen Tharus were killed on June 24, 2013.

Nitish  asked the gathering  to follow the path of Mahatma  Gandhi, who had visited Champaran in 1917.  He said that the slogans of Mahatma Gandhi will now be displayed on government offices and educational  institutions in the region.

Sitting BJP MP from Valmikinagar Satish Chandra Dubey, Vinay Behari,  BJP MLA from Lauria, Sikta  MLA and Sugarcane Development Minister Khurshid Alam, Dhirendra Pratap Singh,  Independent MLA from Valmikinagar, Shailendra  Gharwal, Chairman of Zila Parishad, West champaran, and former MP Kailash Baitha  were prominent among those addressing the meeting.
