Patna : Bihar CM and JD(U) national President Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, and former Union Minister Sanjay Paswan, both BJP, were among the seven candidates who filed their nominations for the biennial polls to 11 seats of Bihar legislative council on April 16, 2018, the last date for filing nominations. JD(U) nominees Rameshwar Mahto and Khalid Anwar also filed their nominations on April 16 along with CM Nitish Kumar.
Eleven Members of Bihar legislative council are completing their term on May 6, 2018. They include Nitish Kumar, Sushil Kumar Modi and Rabri Devi. The council polls are scheduled for April 26, 2018.
Both BJP and JD(U) have fielded three candidates each for the council polls while the RJD is contesting four seats. The four RJD nominees include former CM Rabri Devi, Bihar RJD president Ramchandra Purbey, Khurshid Mohsin, and Santosh Manjhi, son of HAM (S) founder and former Bihar CM Jeetan Ram Manjhi, who recently quit NDA and joined the RJD. All the four RJD nominees had filed their nominations on April 13, 2018.
Senior Congress leader Prem Chand Mishra also filed his nominations on April 16 as party nominee. Congress, which has 27 members in Bihar Assembly, is contesting one seat.
