Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday inaugurated the extended building of Bihar legislature and Secretariat in the sachivalaya
complex. Nitish handed over the key of the new chamber of assembly to speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhury and hoped during the winter session of the legislature, the speaker of assembly and chairman of Bihar legislative council would function from their new chambers in the new building.
Nitish said the new building will have a central hall, independent chambers for the chairmen of different House committees, a huge canteen for the members and staff. The new building has spacious lobby for both treasury and opposition members. A new basement is being developed in the building which had developed seepage problem. Experts from IIT, Rooorkee, have been called to suggest
measure to solve seepage problem.
The chief minister said the new residential complexes for the MLAs would be ready in next two years and in the fourth year of their
term, members of the current assembly would be able to shift in new flats as old flats were demolished two years back.
