Patna:  Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday cancelled the programme for release of first annual report card of Grand Alliance government after hearing news of Kanpur rail tragedy in which 107 passengers were killed following derailment of Rajendrangar bound Indore-Rajendranagar Express train.  Nitish also cancelled the lunch hosted after the release of the report.
The CM announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to families of those passengers from Bihar who died in the mishap and Rs 50,000 each to the injured passengers from the state.
A team of three senior officers led by principal secretary, state Disaster management department, Pratyay Amrit, has been sent by state plane to Kanpur to ensure better treatment to the  passengers of the state .Two senior IPS officers in IG rank have also been sent. A relief train with injured passengers and those released from Kanpur hospital after primary aid  is expected to reach Patna junction late
Sunday night. Relatives of the passengers who wished to go to Kanpur have been sent by Vikramshila Express.
