NITI Ayog team promises quick release of Rs 334 cr for Digha project

Patna : The technical team of NITI Ayog on February 18, 2017, expressed its satisfaction over the progress of special plan projects in Bihar launched during the 12th Five-year plan. The team assured the state government officials that Rs 334 crore for the `Elevated corridor of rail-cum-road bridge’ at Digha, Patna, would be released soon during the current financial year against the balance amount of Rs 594 crore of the project.

The NITI Ayog team left for Delhi on February 18 after its four-day visit to Bihar. But, befor leaving for Delhi the team members had a wrap up meeting with Bihar government officials. The meeting was presided over by Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, Bihar, Dr Dipak Prasad.

The NITI Ayog team members visited sites of some important project including Barauni ( Begusarai) and Kanti ( Muzaffarpur) Thermal Power projects. East Gandak Canal project, Million Shallow Tube project and Rail-cum-Road project at Digha, Patna.

Dr Prasad requested the NITI Ayog team to recommend early release of the  total balance fund of Rs 5,o65 crore against the sanction of Rs 12,000 crore during the 12th Five-year plan saying 2017 is the last year of this plan period.
