Patna : World No 68 in ATP rankings Stan Wawrinka, 33, Switzerland, entered the semi-finals of  ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at Rotterdam, Netherlands, defeating world No 25 Denis Shapovalov, 19, Canada, in straight sets in the quarter-finals on February 16, 2019.

Wawrinka upset Shapovalov 6-4, 7-6 in the quarter-finals. Both the players served 3 Aces each in the match. Shapovalov, however, committed 7 double faults during the match. Wawrinka, the winner of 3 GRand Slam titles, won 3 break points to 2 by Shapovalov. Wawrinka won 5 games in a row to 3 by his rival.

Wawrinka will face World No 7 and top seed Kei Nishikori, 29, in the semi-finals on February 17, 2019. Nishikori beat World No 38 Marton Fucsovics, 27, Hungary, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-finals in 1 hr 18 minutes in the quarter-finals on February 16, 2019. Nishikori won 5 break points while Fucsovics won 2. Nishikori won 6 games in a row in the match to 2 by Fucsovics.
