Sasaram: Government Railway Police arrested nine liquor smugglers and seized 250 pouches of liquor from their possession on Tuesday at Dehri-on-Sone railway station in Rohtas district. All the arrested liquor smugglers were forwarded to jail.

SHO GRP, Dehri-on-Sone, Sita Ram Chaudhary said that police conducted raid in a bogie of 53339 Barvadih-Dehri passenger on Tuesday and seized 250 pouches of liquor being brought from Jharkhand to be sold in different areas in Rohtas district. Police arrested nine persons in this regard. The arrested persons were identified as Firoz Khan and Pappu Kumar of Dhodharh, Sasaram, Suman Kumar Paswan, Nazaamu Ansari, Dharmendra Paswan and Anil Bhuiyan of Lohara village under Pandwa police station in Palamu district, Manish Kumar of Dharmashala road, Sasaram, Amrendra Singh of Uchaila in Rohtas and Gopal Chaudhari of Zamua in Rohtas.

The arrested smugglers revealed that they used to bring liquor from Jharkhand at cheap rate and sell them in different areas in Rohtas district at high profit. They also revealed the names of some regular boozers. Police lodged an FIR against them under new Excise Act. A week ago, four persons were also arrested with liquor brought from Jharkhand from a train.
