New Delhi : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is organising a day-long workshop on ‘Elimination of Bonded Labour System’ in collaboration with the Government of Kerala at Gokulam Park Hotel and Convention Center, Kaloor-I, Kochi, Ernakulam, Kerala, on January 12, 2018. The workshop to be chaired by Justice D Murugesan, Member, NHRC, will start at 9:30 am and conclude by 4:10 pm.
The participants of the workshop will be senior officers of the Government of Kerala, Kerala State Human Rights Commission, NGOs and representatives of brick kilns, stone crushing and other related industries, academicians and final year law students/research scholars from Kerala University, according to an NHRC rlease.
The objective of the workshop is to familiarise and sensitize the District Magistrates, Sub Divisional Magistrates, State Labour Officers and Members of Vigilance Committees, brick kilns, stone crushing and other related industries etc. about the process of identification, release and rehabilitation of bonded labourers and the provisions of Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, and other related legislations.
