Buxar : A newly married couple committed suicide by hanging themselves to the ceiling of their house on July 24, 2021, evening, under Ward No 6 of Nai Bazaar under Buxar Town police station (PS) in Buxar District in South Bihar. They had earlier failed in their first attempt to commit suicide under the wheel of a running train the same day.
The deceased were identified as Upendra Chauhan and his wife Sonamati Devi. They had got married one month back. Upendra Chauhan earned livelihood by selling goods on cart. Police brought the bodies over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
An FIR has been lodged by Buxar Town PS in this connection and police are investigating the matter. Family dispute is said to be cause behind the incident.
SHO, Buxar Town PS, Dinesh Malakar, said that Sonamati Devi of Laxmipur under Dinara police station in Rohtas District in South Bihar was married to Upendra Chauhan of Nai Bazaar in Buxar District a month back. Both were quarrelling over a trivial issue since morning on July 24, 2021, and decided to commit suicide under the wheel of running train but they failed in their attempt and finally committed suicide by hanging themselves to the ceiling of their house. The SHO stated that when the couple did not come out of their room till late night, the family members broke open the room and saw them hanging to the ceiling and informed police.
