Ara : Some unidentified persons moving on an ambulance shot dead the newly elected Mukhia of Babubandh panchayat under Charpokhari police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar Sanjay Singh on November 15, 2021, afternoon.
Local police and senior police officials rushed to the spot on getting information about the incident. An FIR has been lodged with Charpokhari PS in this connection regard. Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the assailants. Later, police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained. Tension prevails in and around the area.
SHO, Charpokhari PS, said that Sanjay Singh of village Bajen was recently elected Mukhia from Babubandh panchayt under Charpokhari block for the second time in a row. The election was held on October 24, 2021, and he was declared winner after counting of votes on October 26, 2021.
The SHO said that Sanjay Singh along with his aide was going to village Thengawa under Charpokhari police station on his motorcycle and when he reached near village Bhaluaana some miscreants on an ambulance intercepted him and then shot him dead and escaped.
