Patna : New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets in the 4th ODI at University Oval, Dunedin, New Zealand, on March 7, 2018, riding on a brilliant unbeaten career best 181 in 147 balls including 17 fours and 6 sixes by former captain Ross Taylor, his 19th ODI ton. New Zealand wicketkeeper Tom Lathan made 71 in 67 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes while Captain Kane Williamson made 45 in 48 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. With this victory, the New Zealand has equalled the five-match series 2-2. Taylor was declared Player of the Match.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss but opted to bowl first. Batting first, England made 335/9 in 50 overs with opener Jonny Bairstow scoring an explosive 138 in 106 balls hitting 14 fours and 7 sixes while Joe Root made 102 in 101 balls hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. It was Root’s 11th ODI century while it was Bairstow’s third ODI century. Bairstow and Root were involved in a 190 run partnership for the second wicket.

England opener Jason Roy made 42 in 41 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes. Allrounder Ben Stokes was out for 1 while Chris Woakes made 3. Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler was out without scoring while Captain Eoin Morgan was out for 5 and Moeen Ali for 3. Tom Curran remained unbeaten on 22 while Mark wood was 3 not out. From 267/1, England slumped to 288/7 in a dramatic collapse.

For New Zealand, spinn3r Ish Sodhi took 4/58 in 10 overs while fast bowler Trent Boult took 2/56 in 10 overs. New Zealand opener Colin Munro also took 2/53 in 8 overs while Tim Southee took 1/87 in 10 overs.

New Zealand made a disastrous start to the chase with both its openers : Martin Guptill and Colin Munro, getting out without scoring with the team score reading only 2. Taylor and Latham were involved in a 187 run partnership for the 4th wicket. Colin de Grandhomme made 23 in 12 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. New Zealand made 339/5 in 49.3 overs.
