Patna : Spinner Akila Dananjaya took 5/80 and fast bowler Suranga Lakmal took 4/29 as New Zealand (NZ) were all out for 249 in their first innings before lunch on Day 2 of the first test against Sri Lanka (SL) at Galle International Stadium, Galle, on August 15, 2019. Sri Lanka were 34/1 after 13 in their first innings at Lunch with captain Dimuth Karunaratne batting on 23 and Kusal Mendis batting on 1.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 203/5, New Zealand soon lost their 6th wicket that of Ross Taylor who fell to Suranga Lakmal for 86 making it 205/6. Mitchell Santner fell to Lakmal for 13 and it was 216/7. Tim Southee was run out for 14 making it 222/8. Trent Boult also fell to Lakmal for 18. Ajaj Patel too fell to Lakmal for zero.
