Patna : New Zealand were 286/7 in 87 overs at stumps on the first day of second and final test against West Indies at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand, on December 9, 2017, with wicketkeeper T Blundell batting on 12 and gast bowler Neil Wagner on 1 not out. Blundell had made century in the first test.

New Zealand batsman Jeet Raval made 84 in 157 balls hitting 15 fours while Captain K Williamson made 43 in 96 balls hitting 5 fours. Allrounder Colin de Grandhomme, who had made century in the first test at Basin Reserve, scored 58 of 63 balls hitting 4 sixes and 5 fours. Opener Tom Latham made 22 and former Captain Ross Taylor 16. H M Nicholls made 13 while M J Satner made 24 in 73 balls with 2 fours and a six.

For West Indies, fast bowler S Gabriel took 3/79 in 19 overs while M Cummins took 2/37 in 17 overs. K Roach took 1/45 in 19 overs and R A Reifer 1/36. The first New Zealand wicket of Tom Latham fell at 65 while Williamson’s wicket was the second to fall at 154. Raval was dismissed when the score was 159. West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss but elected to field. New Zealand bowler Reifer is making his debut in Hamilton test.
