Ara: Senior BJP leader and former union minister Dr C P Thakur on Sunday trashed the excise policy of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and said that the person who was responsible for opening of liquor shops at almost every corner across the state was now talking about benefits of prohibition after enforcing it.
Dr Thakur described the new Excise Law as ‘Draconian’ claiming it has given unlimited power to police by providing for arrest of a person if even empty bottle of liquor was found at his/ her house. He demanded immediate withdrawal of such draconian law.
Talking to mediapersons her on Sundsay, Dr Thakur said law and order in Bihar had collapsed but Nitish Kumar has been holding meetings in Utter Pradesh while his partner has nothing to do with the law and order. He said Nitish Kumar boasts of all round development in Bihar but the fact is that Jharkhand is far ahead on development front. The BJP leader said cow should not be linked with any religion as it is a symbol of India culture and civilization.
