Patna : Neeraj Chopra, 20, India, won gold medal in men’s Javelin throw at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (CWG) with a 86.47m throw in the final on April 14, 2018, defeating Australia’s Hamish Peacock (82.59m).

Neeraj Chopra hails from village Khandra, Panipat, Haryana. He had won gold medal in Asian Athlectic Championship in 2017 with a throw of 85.23 m. Neeraj, whose father Satish Kumar is a farmer, has become first Indian to win gold medal in Javelin throw at Commonweath Games. He did his graduation from DAV College, Chandigarh.
