Patna: . Six NDRF teams were engaged in recovery of bodies, if any, from river Ganga on January 15. A senior NDRF officer said that some teams have also gone to the downstream in search of bodies. The operation would continue, he added.
Several NDRF boats were churning water of river Ganga so that the bodies, if any, still in the bed of the river start floating. A large number of people were watching the operation. Several families were also seen waiting at the NIT ghat.
It may be mentioned here that a boat carrying over 40 persons had capsized near NIT Ghat on January 14 while coming to Patna from Sabalpur diara (riverine belt) after participating in Kite Flying Competition organized by Bihar State Tourism Department on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Thirty persons died in the boat tragedy. Senior district administration officials including DM and SP arrived very late after the boat tragedy.
