Naxalite demands Rs 20 lakh from BDO, Udwantnagar, Bhojpur

Ara : A naxalite has allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh from Block Development Officer (BDO), Udwantnagar Block in Bhojpur district, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, through a letter sent from Jharkhand with a threat to blow up the entire block office with  hand grenade if their demand is not fulfilled. BDO Singh, in a communication, informed Udwantnagar police station about it. The BDO also informed Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Aditya Kumar about it and requested them to inquire into the matter. BDO Singh received the letter on October 27, 2018.

SHO, Udwantnagar police station, said that the letter was allegedly sent by a naxalite Ajay Kumar Sinha alias Mantoo from   Giridih in Jharkhand, to the BDO, Udwantnagar, asking him to send Rs 20 lakh to his residence at Giridih within 10 days failing which the whole block office would be blown up with the hand grenade. He said that on October 27, the BDO received a letter and its content created ripples in the administrative circle. The SHO said that Ajay Kumar Sinha alias Mantoo had used the letter pad of a Congress worker of Giridih.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that the letter was fake and police are investigating into the matter. The BDO said that after he received the letter, he and his family members are living under constant fear.
