New Delhi : Minister of State for Defence Shripad Yesso Naik flagged off an Expedition Team of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, to Mt. Elbrus, Russia, here on August 6, 2019.
The expedition team of eight professional mountaineers led by HMI Principal Gp Capt Jaikishan plans to summit Mt. Elbrus, the highest peak in European Continent on August 15, 2019, and hoist India’s national flag atop the mountain to coincide with 73rd Independence Day. With a view to showcase the importance of Yoga activities to the international community, the team will perform ‘Asanas’ atop Mt.Elbrus.
Naik onveyed his best wishes to the expedition team for successful accomplishment of the planned summit. Director (HMI) Ramashray Sharma and other senior officials of the Ministry were present on the occasion, according to a PIB release.
