Naidu to Award Diploma to 237 students at NSD Convocation on Aug 5

New Delhi : Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu will attend the convocation ceremony of the National School of Drama (NSD) on August 5, 2019, at Abhimanch Auditorium, National School of Drama, New Delhi, at 5 pm. More than 200 students, who completed their 3-year course at NSD between 2010 and 2019, will be awarded the diploma by Vice President of India at the convocation.

The Vice President of India will be the Chief Guest at the convocation while Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (I/C) Prahlad Singh Patel will be the Guest of Honour. Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Arun Goel, former Chairman of the National School of Drama  Chandrashekhara Kambara and eminent theatre personality and former director of National School of Drama Ratan Thiyam will also grace the occasion where Acting Chairman, NSD Society, Dr Arjun Deo Charan, and Director In-charge, National School of Drama, Suresh Sharma will be present.

A total of 237 students will receive their diploma after completing the course of dramatic arts from the National School of Drama (NSD). NSD is foremost theatre training institutions in the world which has been recently ranked 14th among the best film schools in the world by CEOWORLD Magazine of the USA, according to a PIB release.

Established in 1959, the National School of Drama is the only one of its kind in India and is an autonomous organization, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It offers a 3-year, full-time, residential training programme in every aspect of theatre with a special focus on the practical implementation of theories.
