Patna : Top seed Rafael Nadal, Spain, 31, won his third US Open tennis title, his 16th Grand Slam title, beating 32nd seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 at Flushing Meadows on September 10, 2017, in almost a one sided two-and-a-half-hour final. It was Nadal’s second Grand Slam title of 2017. He had also won the French Open title, a Grand Slam event, for the 10th time this year beating Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka at Roland Garros 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 in the final.

Roger Federer, Switzerland, has won 19 Grand Slam titles. Both Federer and Nadal won two Grand Slam titles each in 2017. Federer had won Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2017. Kevin Anderson, also 31,  was playing his first Grand Slam final while for Nadal it was 23rd Grand Slam final. Nadal had also reached the final of Australian Open in 2017. The Spainiar had earlier won US Open in 2010 and 2013.
