Patna : World Number 1 and top seed Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, won the Monte Carlo ATP Masters singles title for the 11th time crushing World Number 36 Kei Nishikori,28, Japan, in the final on April 22, 2018. With this win, Nadal also retained his World Number 1 position. It was Nadal’s 31st ATP Masters 1000 singles title.

Nadal inflicted a shattering 6-3, 6-2, defeat on Nishikori, who has returned to professional circuit after injury lay off. Nadal was ruthless in quarterfinals, semi-finals, and final victories. He had defeated World Mumber 5 Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, 6-4, 6-1, in the semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, Nadal had defeated Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, 6-0, 6-2. Nishikori had defeated World Number 4 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, in a three-set thriller 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the semi-finals.
