Nadal, Tsitsipas, Moutet, Goffin enter 3rd round of French Open

Patna : World No 2 and 2nd seed Rafael Nadal, Spain, and World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Greece, and World No 110 Corentin Moutet, 20, France, entered the third round of French Open on May 29, 2019.

Eleven time champion Nadal beat World No 114 Yannick Maden, 29, Germany, a qualifier, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 in the second round at Roland Garros, Paris, France. Nadal, the winner of 17 Grand Slam singles titles, broke Maden’s service 7 times in the match while the latter broke his service twice. Nadal won 5 games in a row in the match. Nadal’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 74% & 70%) was much better than that of Maden ( 58% & 24%). Nadal served 3 Aces in the match to 1 by Maden. Nadal won 50 service points to 34  by Maden.

Tsitsipas, the 6th seed, beat World No 86 Hugo Dellien, 25, Bolivia, in a tough four-set contest 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 7-5 in the 2nd round rallying back strongly after losing the first set. Tsitsipas broke Dellien’s service 8 times in the match sipas while the latter broke his service thrice. Tsitsipas fired 5 Aces in the match. He won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by Dellien. Dellien committed 7 double faults to 2 by Tsitsipas.

World No 110 Corentin Moutet upset World No 23 Guido Pella, 29, Argentina, 6-3, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 in the second round. Moutet broke Pella’s service 9 times in the match while the latter broke his service 6 times. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Moutet won 60 service points to 55 by Pella.

World No 29 David Goffin, 28, Belgium, entered the 3rd round beating World No 85 Miomir Kecmanovic, 19, Serbia, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. Goffin broke Miomir’s service 7 times in the match while the latter broke his service twice. Goffin also won 4 games in a row.
