Patna : Top seed and World No 1 in ATP rankings Rafal Nadal, 32, Spain, beat World No 7 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, in a tough three-set encounter on August 11, 2018, to enter the semi-finals of Rogers Cup, an ATP Masters 1,000 event, at Toronto, Canada. But, World No 27 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, stunned World No 3 and second seed Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, in the quarter-finals to reach his ATP Masters 1,000 semi-finals.

Nadal beat Cilic, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals to set up a semi-final meeting with World No 38 Karen Kachanov, 22, Russia, on August 12, 2018. Both Nadal and Cilic won 3 break points each in the match. Nadal committed 5 double faults to 1 by Cilic in the match. The top seed fired 4 Aces in the match to 5 by Cilic. Cilic won 5 games in a row to 3 by Nadal. With this Nadal is now 6-2 head to headagainst Cilic.

Kachanov defeated World No 39, Robin Haase, 31, Netherlands, 6-3, 6-1 to enter the semi-finals. Kachanov fired 1 Aces in the match to just 1 by Haase. Both the players committed 3 double faults each. But, Kachanov won 4 break points.

Tsitsipas, who had upset Wimbledon Champion and winner of 13 Grand Slam titles in the Round of 16, continued his dream run to beat Zverev in a three-set thriller 36, 7-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals on August 10, 2018, late night. Both the players fired 5 Aces each in the match. Tsitsipas committed 7 double faults to 6 by Zverev. Zverev won 5 break points while Tsitsipas won 4. Tsitsipas had upset World No 8 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, in the second round.

World No 6 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, beat World no 5 Grigor Dimitrov, 27, Bulgaria, 6-2, 6-2 on August 10 late night to enter the semi-finals of Rogers Cup. Anderson fired 12 Aces in the match to 3 by Dimitrov, who committed 3 double faults. Anderson won 4 break points. Anderson will play Tsitsipas in the semi-finals.
