Patna : World No 2 Rafael Nadal, 33, Spain, and World No 28 Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, entered the semi-finals of Rolex Paris Masters at Bercy, Paris, France, on November 2, 2019.

Second seed Nadal, who has never won the :Paris Masters title, beat 2008 Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 34, in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals on November 2 early morning winning two break points in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. Tsonga though fired 8 Aces in the match to 7 by the Spaniard. Nadal’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 93 % &47 %) was much higher than that of Tsonga (88% & 28 %). Nadal now leads 10-4 Head to Head. Nadal had also defeated Tsonga in Round of 32 at Wimbledon in 2019.

Nadal will face Shapovalov in the SFs on November 2 night. Shapovalov crushed World No 13 Gael Monfils, 33, France, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals winning 4 break points in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. The Canadian fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by the French. Shapovalov’s winning percentage both on his first and second ( 92 % & 64 %) was much higher than that of Monfils ( 55 % & 55 %). Nadal and Shapovalov are locked 1-1 Head to Head.

Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic will face World No 27 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, in the first SFs on November 2 at 6.30 pm.
