Patna : Although Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain, remains World No 1 in ATP rankings released on October 8, 2018, he has dropped 500 points as he did not defend his China Open tennis championship title in 2018.

Nadal has now 8,260 points from 14 tournaments. He has not played any tournament since US Open and as a result Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, and Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, are breathing down his neck with 6,900 and 6,445 points respectively.

Nadal is not playing in ATP Shanghai Masters this year and will loss drop further 600 points next week. Djokovic, on the other hand, is sure to add to his points by playing at Shanghai Masters, where Federer is the defending champion. Djokovic had not played here in 2017.

Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, has jumped 10 places after winning the Japan Open 2018 beating World No 12 Kei Nishikori, Japan, on October 7, 2018, to be ranked World No 22 with 1,762 points. Nikoloz Basilashvili, 26, Georgia, has jumped 11 places after winning the China Open 2018 at Beijing on October 7, 2018, beating World No 4 Juan Martin del Porto, and is ranked World No 23 with 1,757 points.

Alex de Minaur, 19, Australia, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 33 with 1,238 points. But, Nick Kyrgios, 23, Australia, has dropped 11 places to be ranked World No 38 with 1,170 points. Winner of three Grand Slam titles Stan Wawrinka, 33, Switzerland, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 69 with 785 points. Fedrico Delbonis, 28, Argentina, has jumped 10 places to be ranked World No 81 with 693 points while Denis Istomin, 32, Uzbekistan, has jumped 16 places to be ranked World No 87 with 652 points.

Pablo Andujar, 32, Spain, has jumped 14 places to b e ranked World No 103 with 563 points. Former top ten player David Ferer, 36, Spain, has jumped 37 places to be ranked World No 110 with 515 points. Santiago Giraldo, 30, Colombia, has jumped 86 places to be ranked World No 326 with 140 points. Jordi Samper Montana, 28, Spain, has jumped 50 places to be ranked World No 341 with 129 points. Yuta Shimizu, 19, Japan, has jumped 62 places to be ranked World No 345 with 124 points.

Yuki Bhambri, 26, India, has gained one place to be ranked World No 97 with 592 points. But, Ramkumar Ramnathan, 23, India, has slipped 4 places to be ranked World No 127 with 455 points. Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 28, India, has gained one place to be ranked World No 169 with 328 points. Sumit Nagal, 1, India, is ranked World No 316 with 148 points. Saketh Myneni, 30, India, is ranked World No 328 with 140 points.
