Patna : Top seed Rafael Nadal, 33, Spain, and World No 35 35 Taylor Fritz, 22, USA, reached the final of Mexican Open an ATP Tour 500 hard court event at Acapulco, Mexico, on February 28, 2020, late evening. They will clash in final on February 29, 2020. It will be first meeting between the two players.

World No 2 and two-time former champion Nadal, the winner of 19 Grand Slam titles, crushed 7th seed & World No 22 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, 6-3, 6-2 in 1hr 43 in second semi-finals to enter the final. Nadal won 5 break points in the match to 2 by the Bulgarian. He also won 6 games in a row in the match to 2 by Dimitrov. Nadal fired 4 Aces in the match to 2 by Dimitrov. Nadal though committed 3 double faults to 1 by the Bulgarian. The Spaniard, in all, won 62 points in the match to 49 by Dimitrov. Nadal took two minutes more to beat Dimitrov than Taylor Fritz took to beat John Isner in three-sets in first semi-finals.

Taylor beat 5th seed & World No 20 John Isner, 34, USA, in three-sets 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 in 1hr 41 minutes in semi-finals rallying back from one set down. Fritz hammered 15 Aces in the match to 13 by Isner. He committed 4 double faults to 7 by Isner. Both the players won 3 break points each in the match. Fritz won 5 games in a row to 4 by Isner. Fritz, in all, won 85 points to 79 by Isner.
