Patna : World No 1 tennis player Rafael Nadal, Spain, and World No 2 Roger Federer, Switzerland, reached the final of ATP Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 tournament on October 14, 2017. Nadal defeated number 4 seed Marin Cilic , Croatia, 7-5, 7-6 in the semi-finals overcoming a tough fight from the Croatian with both players playing a very high level of tennis. With this vistory, Nadal reached the 10th final in 2017. Nadal had won the ATP Beijing Open 500 title, a hard courts event, last week.
Federer defeated 16th seed Juan Martin de Porto, Argentina, in a thriller 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in another semi-finals. Federer has won this tournament once but Nadal has never won it though he had reached the final in 2009, the year this outdoor hard courts event started. The final will be played on October 15.
