Patna : World No 2 Rafael Nadal, Spain, and World No 3 Roger Federer, Switzerland, won their respective quarter-finals matches at All England Club, London, to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon Championships on July 10, 2019, evening. They will clash in the SFs on July 12, 2019. Nadal leads Federer 24-15 head to head.

Two-time champion and winner of 18 Grand Slam singles title Nadal beat World No 65 Sam Querrey, 31, USA, in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals to enter the SFs of the Wimbledon Championships. Nadal, the 3rd seed, broke Querrey’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. The Spaniard won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by Querrey. Nadal’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 82 % & 57 %) was much higher than that of Querrey (72 % & 24 %). The American, however, fired 22 Aces in the match to 10 by Nadal.

Eight time champion and winner of 20 Grand Slam singles title Federer beat World No 7 and 8th seed Kei Nishikori, 29, Japan, in four-sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 coming from behind in the quarter-finals. Federer, the 2nd seed,  fired 12 Aces in the match to 3 by Nishikori. Federer won 4 break points in the match to 1 by Nishikori. Federer’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 81 % & 67 %) was much higher than that of Nishikori ( 58 % & 56 %).
