Nadal enters QFs of ATP Monte-Carlo Masters

Patna : World Number 1 in ATP rankings and two time defending champion Rafael Nadal, 31, Soain, entered the quarterfinals of Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 tournament defeating Karen Kachanov, 21, Russia, in the Round of 16 on April 19, 2018.

Nadal, the Number 1 seed, defeated World Number 38 Kachanov 6-3, 6-2. Nadal, who has won Monte-Carlo singles titles 10 times, needs to retain his title to stay World Number 1. Nadal will play World Number 7 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, in the quarterfinals.

World Number 2 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, also entered the quarterfinals after his opponent in the Round of 16 Milos Raonic, 27, Canada, the World Number 22, retired before the match.  World Number 34 Richard Gasquet, 31, France, defeated World Number 55 Mischa Zverev, 30, Germany, 6-2, 7-5, to enter the quarterfinals.

Gasquet will play World Number 4 Alexander Zverev, 20, Garmany, younger brother of Mischa Zverev,in the quarterfinals. World Number 5 Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, will play World Number 10 David Goffin, 27, Belgium, in the other quarterfinals.
