Patna : World No 2 Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain, marched into the 3rd round of Monte-Carlo Masters at Monaco inflicting a crushing defeat on World No 22 Roberto Bautista Agut, 31, Spain, in the 2nd round. Nadal, who has won Monte-Carlo singles title 11 times, brushed aside Agut 6-1, 6-1 in 76 minutes on April 17, 2019, evening.

Incidentally, neither Nadal now Agut served any Ace in the match. Nadal also committed 3 double faults. He, however, broke Agut’s service 5 times in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. Nadal won 32 service points to 17 by Agut. Nada”s winning percentage on both his first and second serve ( 64% & 88%) was much better than that of Agut (36% & 53%). Agut had defeated World No 1 Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16 at Miami Masters on March 27, 2019.

Nadal will face World No 28 Grigor Dimitrov, 27, Bulgaria, in the Round of 16 on April 18, 2019. Dimitrov defeated World No 44 Jan-Lenard Struff, 28, Germany, 7-6, 6-4 in the 2nd round. Struff had defeated World No 20 Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, in the first round.

World No 3 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, entered the 3rd round defeating World No 33 Felix Agur Aliassime, 18, Canada, 6-1, 6-4 in the 2nd round in 78 minutes. Zverev broke Aliassime’s service 6 times in the match while the latter broke his service twice.

World No 14 Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, beat World No 45 Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, 6-1, 6-2 to reach the 3rd round. Medvedev won 6 break points in the match to just 1 by Albot. Medvedev also won 4 games in a row in the match.

World No 8 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, beat World No 42 Mikhail Kukushkin, 6-3, 7-5 to enter the 3rd round of the tournament. Tsitsipas won 4 break points in the match to 2 by Kukushkin.
