Patna : JD(U) National President and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar while addressing three massive poll rallies in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali Districts in North Bihar October 26, 2020, said that his government had connected every village with metalled roads and extended credit facilities to poor students under the Students Credit card scheme.

Addressing his first rally of the day at Sakra in Muzaffarpur District, Nitish spoke about the developmental works carried out by his government in the last 5 years. Highlighting he works done for the welfare of women upliftment in the state, Nitish said that his government had facilitated formation of self-help groups (SHGs) under the Jeevika Scheme. He said the  Self-help groups had played an
important role in changing the lives of women in rural areas and are played a big role in implementation of participatory approach toward the economic empowerment of women.
Nitish said, “It was two self-help groups of Muzaffarpur with whom we interacted and got the idea to implement it across the state. We took loan from the World Bank and started the Jeevika Scheme. Our target was to set up 10 lakh self-help groups, but we exceeded it. Today, over 1.20 crore women are associated with this programme.”
Lashing out at the Mahagathbandhan ( Grand Alliance), Nitish  said, “While our focus is on carrying out work and not seeking
publicity, there are some people who believe in just making empty promises. We carried out the task of connecting every village with metalled roads and as a part of our seven resolves (Saath Nischay) set up educational institutes in every district. We extended credit facilities to poor students under the Students Credit card scheme.”
Speaking at Mahua in Vaishali district, Nitish said, “Vaishali is a place of historical importance and  we are in the process of setting up a Buddhist era Museum. We delivered on our promise of giving electricity to every household in the state and now we are working to provide electricity to every farm.”
He said that of 495 wards in Mahua constituency, 468 wards have access to tapped water under ‘Har Ghar Nal ka Jal’ scheme. Under this scheme 83 per cent of the work has already been completed. He said 99 percent work on Rural roads had been completed and if the NDA gets a chance again, it will light up village streets with solar lights.
Addressing an election rally at Mahnar in Vaishali District, the home district of former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Nitish told the voters, “My association with Raghuvansh Prasad Singh goes back to emergency times. He was betrayed by the people for whom he stood by all his life. And these people have nothing to do with development, they just indulge in power politics.”
