Muzaffarpur : MSc engineering degrees given by B R Ambedkar Bihar University ( BRABU),  Muzaffarpur, since 1987 to hundreds of students of MIT, Muzaffarpur, has been declared invalid and illegal by the Science and Technology department of Bihar government as it was being run without permission from the government.

Principal Secretary, Science and Technology department, Arun Kumar Singh, in a communication to VC, BRABU, has said that MSc engineering degree awarded to MIT, Muzaffarpur, students was illegal. VC, BRABU, Amrendra Narain Yadav, said that the state government has stopped the MSc engineering exam and viva voce. Principal Secretary, Science and Technology department, has also ordered legal action against the officials concerned of MIT, Muzaffarpur.

VC Yadav said that so far students were being admitted to MSc engineering course without permission from the government and students clearing the exam were awarded degrees. But, after establishment of  Aryabhatt Knowledge University (AKU), Patna, all the technical institution in the state have come under it and the university has started inquiring into functioning of all technical institutions under it, the VC, BRABU, said. He said that the inquiry revealed that MSc engineering course was being run without permission from the government, he added. MIT, Muzaffarpur, was under BRABU till two years back. The VC said after holding an inquiry into the matter a report would be sent to the government. MIT, Muzaffarpur, was established in 1954.
