Saharsa: With swollen Kosi river putting pressure on railway track at Fango halt on Saharsa – Mansi rail section, the  movement of trains on this section was suspended on Saturday night. Divisional railway manager (DRM), Samastipur,  Sudhanshu Sharma is camping at the place to expedite flood protection works.

It may be mentioned here that river puts pressure on railway tracks at Fango halt every year but movement of trains was stopped on Saharsa- Mansi section only twice in the past. Neither Railways nor state Water resources department appear serious about finding a permanent solution to this problem though huge amount is spent every year to protect the track. The flood water has reached very close to railway track at Fango halt.

DRM Sharma admitted that the situation was serious at Fango. He has directed the engineers to expedite the flood protection work and railway officials have been asked to remain alert. The DRM said the train movement on the section will remain suspended until further order. Sahar- Delhi Garib Rath and Purvaiya Express will operate from Mansi station for the time being while Saharsa- Amritsar Jan Seva Express will run from Barauni.  Saharsa- Sialdah Hate Bazzar express and Kosi express pass through Katihar.
