Monia Puig stuns World No 2 Wozniacki at Miami Open

Patna : In a massive upset,World Number 82 in WTA rankings Monica Puig Marchan, 24, Puerto Rico, defeated World Number 2 Caroline Wozniacki, 27, Denmark, the number 2 seed, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round at Miami Open Masters 1000 beingplayed at Crandon Park Tennis Centre, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA, on March 24, 2018. Wozniacki blanked Puig in the first set, but then lost the next two sets.

Monica Puig Marchan, the women’s singles champion at 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, had defeated Australian Samantha Stosur, a former US Open Women’s singles Champion, in the first round.

French Open women’s singles champion and World Number 5 Jelena Ostapenko, 20, Latvia, entered the third round defeating World Number 47 Timea Babos, 24,Hungary, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round. World Number 8 Venus Williams, 37, USA, has also the third round.
