Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Kento Momota, 24, Japan, beat World No 6 Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, in a see-saw battle in the final to clinch the men’s singles title at Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships 2019 at Arena Birmingham, UK, on March 10, 2019, late night.

Reigning World Champion Momota beat former World No 1 and 6th seed Viktor Axelsen in a three-game thriller 21-11, 15-21, 21-15 in 81 minutes in the final. Momota won the first game in 24 minutes while Axelsen won the second game in 27 minutes. Momota won the third game in 30 minutes. Almost all the points in the match saw long rallies. Momota now leads Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, 11-2 head to head.
