Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Kento Momota, 24, Japan, and World No 3 Chou Tien Chen, 28, Taiwan, entered the final of Fuzhou China Open 2018, a BWF World Tour Super 750 event. They will clash in the final on November 11.
Top seed Momota defeated reigning Olympic Champion and World No 5 Chen Long, 29, China, in a tough three-game encounter 19-21, 21-17, 21-17 in 87 minutes in the semi-finals at Fuzhou, China, on November 10, 2018. Reigning World Champion Momota won 61 rallies in the match to 55 by Chen Long. Momota won 4 consecutive points while Long won 5. Chen Long still leads Momota 5-3 head to head though.
Chou Tien Chen beat World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 22, China, 21-11, 21-10 in 35 minutes in the semi-finals on November 10. Shi Yuqi was runners up at 2018 World Championship at Nanjing, China. Chen won 42 rallies in the match to 21 by Yuqi. He also won 5 consecutive points to 2 by Yuqi. Yuqi though leads Chen 3-2 head to head.
