Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Kento Momota, 24, Japan, World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 22, China, World No 3 Chou Tien Chen, 28, Taiwan, and World No 9 Kidambi Srikanth, 25, India, entered the quarter-finals of BWF Fuzhou China Open 2018 on November 8, 2018.

Top seed and reigning World Champion Kento Momota beat World No 30 Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus, 32, Denmark, 21-13, 21-15 in 37 minutes in the second round to enter the quarter-finals at Fuzhou, China, on November 8. Momota won 42 rallies in the match while Vittinghus won 28. He also won 6 consecutive points to 5 by Vittinghus. Momota leads Vittinghus 4-1 head to head.

Shi Yuqi, the second seed, beat World No 31 Kazumasa Sakai, 28, Japan, 21-10, 21-17 in 37 minutes to enter the quarter-finals. Yuqi won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Kazumasa. He also won 6 consecutive points to 3 by Kazumasa. Yuqi leads Kazumasa 5-1 head to head.

Srikanth won 52 rallies in the match to 39 by Sugiarto. Both the players won 6 consecutive points each in the match. The two players are 3-3 head to head.

World No 7 Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, beat World No 12 and reigning Asian Games champion Jonatan Christie, 21, Indonesia, in a tough contest 22-20, 20-22, 21-11 in 70 minutes to enter the quarter-finals.
