Patna : Reigning World Champion and top seed Kento Momota, 24, Japan, and World No 15 Sameer Verma, 24, I ndia, entered the quarter-finals of Badminton Asia Championships 2019, Wuhan, China, on April 25, 2019. The winner of this tournament will get 9,200 points while the runners-up will get 7,800 points.

World No 1 Momota beat World No 35 Lee Cheuk Yiu, Hong Kong, 21-10, 21-11 in 33 minutes the second round at Wuhan Sports Center on April 25 to advance to the quarter-finals. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 21 by Yiu. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Yiu. Momota now leads Yiu 4-0 head to head.

Sameer Verma beat World No 16 N G Ka Long Angus, Hong Kong,  21-12, 21-19 in 43 minutes in the second round to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Sameer won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Angus. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Sameer now leads Angus 3-2 head to head.
