Patna : Top seed and World Champion  Kento Momota, Japan, edged past  World No 25 Wang Tzu Wei, Chinese Taipei,  in a three-game thriller to enter the 2nd round of Yonex French Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Paris, France, on October 23,2019.

World No 1 Momota defeated Wang Tzu Wei 15-21, 21-15, 21-16 in 78 minutes in first round battling back from one game down. Momota won 57 rallies in the match to 52 by Wang Tzu Wei. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 7 by Wang. Momota now leads Wang 3-0 Head to Head.

World No 13 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, beat World N0 18 Sameer Verma, India, in a three-games 20-22, 21-18, 21-18 in 84 minutes to enter the 2nd round coming from behind. Nishimoto won 62 rallies in the match to 58 by Sameer. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Nishimoto now leads Sameer 2-0 Head to Head.
