Patna : Two-time World Champion and World No 1 Kento Momota, 25, Japan, reached the final of USD 15,00,000 HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Guangzhou, China, defeating World No 19 Wang Tzu Wei, 24, Chinese Taipei, in straight games in semi-finals on December 14, 2019.
Momota beat Wang 21-17, 21-12 in 48 minutes in SFs at Tianhe Gynasium, Guangzhou, China. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Wang. He won 6 consecutive points to 3 by Wang. Momota now leads Wang 5-0 Head to Head.
Momota , who won World Championships title both in 2018 ( Nanjing, China) and 2019 ( Basel), will face World No 8 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 23, Indonesia, in the final on December 15, 2019. Momota has won 8 singles titles in 2019. Ginting has not won any title this year but had reached final of four tournaments. Momota has won 31 career titles to 3 by Ginting.
The winner will get 12,000 BWF rankings points plus USD 1,20,000 cash prize. The runner-up will get 10,200 BWF rankings points plus USD 60,000 cash prize.
